57-year-old American man hangs himself in Lagos hotel

Yesterday, Charles Carlson’s body was found hanged with a rope at about 5:30pm, at Ellyx Ville Hotel, Lekki. The hotel manager, Vincent Onwuke, notified policemen at Maroko Division, who evacuated the corpse.

It was learnt that the hotel management became suspicious after Carlson did not come down for breakfast, neither did he respond to telephone calls to his room and mobile number.

His business partner was contacted and his hotel room forced open only to discover him dead close to the door. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said, “The police are investigating a case of sudden and unnatural death.
Carlson was found motionless and hanged himself with a rope close to the door. The CP, Owoseni, has directed the case to be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for further investigation.”
