Some Muslims have taken to Twitter to call out Bashir El-rufai, one of the sons of Kaduna state governor Nasir El-rufai, over a loved-up photos with his bride which they termed "inapproriate".

Ooni of Ife and his wife welcome a son

 

Ooni of Ife has announced the birth of his first child with Olori Silekunola - a baby boy. 

He said the Prince was born today, November 18, 2020.

A statement via his official Instagram account reads: "To God be the glory great things he has done.

"Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Silekunola who today birthed a Prince to the Royal throne of Oduduwa. 

"Mother and child are doing well to the glory of God Almighty."

This is the couple's first child together.

 

Suspended: Embassy official accused of soliciting sex for passport renewal

 

In a viral video, the official identified as “Mr Martin” was caught with his pants off in a hotel room after he had allegedly asked the unnamed lady to have sex with him before he could release the passport.


The voice behind the camera accused Martin of several unwanton sexual encounters he had in the past in exchange for delivering his official duty.


A few hours after the video surfaced online on Tuesday, November 13, the embassy announced the suspension of the official who works as local staff in the security unit “with immediate effect.”

Update: Felony criminal charges have been approved against Jussie Smollett as detectives move in to arrest him

Last night, Empire actor, Jussie Smollett was classified as a suspect for allegedly filing a false police report in which he claimed he was attacked in Chicago last month.

Giving a status update on the case, Chicago Police spokesperson, Anthony Gugliemi tweeted, 'Jussie Smollett is now officially classified as a suspect in a criminal investigation by #ChicagoPolice for filing a false police report (Class 4 felony). Detectives are currently presenting evidence before a Cook County Grand Jury'.

APC chairman in Imo shot dead

The All Progressives Congress chairman in Logara/Umuohiagu Ward in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, Ifeanyi Ozoemena, was killed by suspected assassins last night Tuesday February  19th.

According to reports, Ozoemena had just finished presiding over a political meeting in his ward and was on his way to his house when he was accosted by some masked men who shot him dead at close range.  The men rode in a tinted SUV.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi,  investigations into the killing has started and that the culprits will soon be apprehended. He added that the body of the deceased has been deposited in a morgue.

950 suspected political thugs arrested in Kano state

 

The Kano state police command has confirmed the arrest of 950 suspected political thugs just days to the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections.

Wakili Mohammed, the state Police Commissioner, confirmed the arrest and figure when members of the Kano Election Peace Committee paid him a visit in his office on Tuesday.

Mohammed said the command had nabbed no fewer than 950 suspected political thugs, who are locally called ‘Yan Daba’, for allegedly attacking innocent within the last nine days. They were arrested with dangerous weapons and under the influence of hard drugs.

INEC chairman counters President Buhari, says Ballot box snatchers should not be shot

INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood has countered President Buhari's order that ballot box snatchers during the elections should be shot dead.

Recall that on Monday February 18th, President Buhari at an APC meeting in Abuja said that Ballot box snatchers and thugs stand the risk of losing their lives during the elections.

''I am going to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs, snatch ballot boxes or to disturb the voting system, he will do it at the expense of his own life.” he said

APC Will Convert The Adversity Caused By INEC To An Opportunity For More Campaigns – Tinubu

Bola Tinubu recently tackled INEC on its stance on the issue that concerns campaigns, saying it is lawful for political parties to campaign till 24 hours to polling.

The political leader could not understand how an electoral commission will go against such law.

His words “By law we should continue to energize our people. It depends on our resources because the Electoral Act allows us to continue to campaign and ask us to stop campaigning only 24 hours before the actual election.

Atiku Abubakar Sues Buhari, Demands 2 Billion Naira And A Public Apology

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has gone to a High Court in Abuja, with a request for it to prevent President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies in the country from intruding with the general elections.

Atiku also asked the court to make it compulsory for Buhari to settle him for damages to the tune of N2 billion, as well as publicly apologise, for paying good money to instigate several untrue suits against him.

He said the bloodshed and destruction in Nigeria had rendered citizens, farmers, women and children homeless without fwhat to eat or the basic amenities of life, as well as led to the emergence of various IDP camps in the country

#NigeriaDecides: International election observers seek visa extension

Following the rescheduling of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria, an international election observer group, the Pan African Women Project based in South Africa has appealed to the Federal Government to extend the visas of all foreign observers to enable them stay until March 9, 2019.  

The publicity secretary of the organisation, Mphoentle Keitseng, made the appeal at a joint press briefing on the general elections by domestic and international observers in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Buhari Is Winning On Saturday – Daniel Nwafor

The Imo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress believes that President Muhammadu Buhari will emerge victorious at the February 23 presidential election.

Daniel Nwafor said APC was working round the clock to ensure that Buhari wins.

The party is however bothered that the postponed presidential and National Assembly polls would experience voter apathy, especially in the South-East.

DSS issues disclaimer and warns the public against dealing with its Ex-DG, Lawal Daura

The Department of State Services has issued a disclaimer against its former director-general Lawal Daura who was sacked last year, after mounting a blockade of the National Assembly.  

In a statement issued today by its spokesman Peter Afunanya, the secret service agency warned that “any person or group that further engages him or his representatives/associates does so at their own peril”.  

The service also debunked notions that Daura still remotely controlled its affairs.

Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has said that APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, lacks moral justification to call for the resignation of INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmoud's resignation, over the postponement of the elections.

Shortly after INEC announced the sudden postponement of the elections, Oshiomole who appeared shocked by the announcement, called for Mahmoud's resignation. California, 15 other states sue President Trump over his decision to declare a national emergency to fund border wall

California and 15 other US states sued President Donald Trump’s administration Monday over his decision to declare a national emergency to fund a wall on the southern border with Mexico, saying the move violated the constitution.

Trump announced the emergency Friday in order to bypass Congress, which approved only a quarter of the $5.6 billion he wanted for the wall in a spending bill. But the lawsuit, filed in a federal court in California, said the president’s order was contrary to the constitution’s presentment and appropriations clauses, which outline legislative procedures and define Congress as the final arbiter of public funds, respectively.
