To commemorate this year’s International day for the elimination
of violence against women (November 25th) and in collaboration with The Simi Johnson Trust, Mainevents have produced the critically acclaimed stage play – ‘A Past Came Calling‘ written by Uche Mac- Auley and starring two award-winning actresses – Joke Silva and Kemi “Lala” Akindoju.
Synopsis
Her 6-month-old baby strapped to her back, Temisan
runs for dear life. In her desperation to put a distance between
herself and her in-laws and rid herself of everything that connects her
to them, Temisan dumps her six months old baby in the dust-bin of a wealthy home, hoping for a better life for the infant. Temisan continues with her life, succeeding as an award-winning actress.
A Past Came Calling,
a one-act play, tells the story of a woman with a dark secret she has
guarded for years until she is threatened with exposure. Brilliantly
written, this thought-provoking piece delves into many of the topical
issues, portraying explicitly, issues that no doubt affect all and
sundry. These issues are intricately woven into the story with a view to
inform, correct and entertain
