Police Foils Kidnap Of Lebanese Contractor In Bayelsa

A move to kidnap a Lebanese worker with Dantata and Sawoe in Bayelsa state was yesterday thwarted by Police escort deployed to expatriate workers of the construction firm. A five-man gang of kidnappers had moved in to kidnap the Lebanese worker around Igbogene community, Yenagoa local government area, Bayelsa state and were stopped, thanks to the resilient effort of Police. The kidnap attempt was made at about 12pm, Saturday, at the site of the ongoing construction work on Igbogene road network awarded to Dantata and Sawoe by the state government. A witness, Bayelayefagh Prince, said that the shoot-out was loud and traders and commercial motorcyclists around the area ran for safety. According to the Bayelsa Police Command, the incident which occurred on Saturday led to a shoot-out between the policemen and the armed kidnappers, during which one of the kidnappers was shot and arrested while others fled. “We heard loud gun shots and saw a young man on the floor bleeding. He was surrounded by policemen,” he said.
