Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Abduct Delta University Staff | Demands N5 million Ransom

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu confirmed reports that a non-academic staff of Delta state University was kidnapped by suspected Fulani Herdsmen at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area.

According to Kalu, the victim, John Ogeleke was heading towards Ogume from Kwale in his Nissan Pathfinder jeep when he was abducted by four men of Fulani extraction at gun point.

She also said that the Police in the Kwale division, vigilante team members, men of Dragon 25 police patrol team and reinforcement from nearby divisions are searching the bush where the 54-year old victim was taken into by the armed men.

She added that the Fulani leader in Kwale Alhaji Mudi, has also been informed “to assist in the search as several Fulani camps are located therein.”

Vanguard reports that a “dependable source in the community” said that the abductors have demanded N5 million to secure the victims release.
