There was a gas explosion at the Calabar office of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) today when a cylinder being used by welders at the site caught fire.Confirming the report, CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okorafor said the explosion occurred at the part of the premises under re-construction.
According to him, no death was recorded from the incident and the resultant fire has been successfully put out.
“There is a gas explosion from the construction area of our premises there. There is no fatality yet. A few persons who were injured have been taken to the hospital. The Fire service personnel responded promptly and they have been able to put out the fire,” he said.
